Norwegians are facing shortage of eggs

A shortage of eggs in stores for the duration of Holy Week has led Norwegians to flock to supermarkets throughout the border in Sweden and hoard the conventional Easter meals.

Norwegian news outlet Nettavisen said Thursday that the Nordby buying center in Sweden, located just off the border approximately one hundred kilometers (sixty two miles) south of the capital, Oslo, has been stuffed by means of “determined” Norwegians attempting stock up on eggs.

The middle’s Maxi-Mat food store ran out of eggs Tuesday, whilst the adjoining Nordby supermarket has had to restrict the quantity of eggs bought to a few 20-packs per family, the information outlet suggested.

now not best are the Swedish shops better stocked with eggs, a traditional Easter deal with wished for lots dishes, but the product is also greater lower priced in Sweden, Nettavisen said.

“It’s a long way less expensive than you get in Norway — if you may get eggs in Norway at all, that is,” Ståle Løvheim, the head of the Nordby purchasing middle, told Nettavisen. “The final time i was in Norway, the shop changed into empty” of eggs.

A percent of 20 eggs in Sweden sells for a rate equivalent to 39.90 Norwegian kroner ($3.70), approximately 30% less than the fee in Norway.
