Biggest gold nugget found in England

Richard Brock, sixty seven, drove three-and-a-half hours from Somerset to Shropshire for a collection dig in a farmland at the Hills.


when he arrived, he determined that his steel-detecting package become not running and had to interrupt out an older, faulty device.


Twenty mins into the dig, however, Brock quite actually struck gold whilst he dug up a large 64.8g nugget buried approximately six inches underground.


Dubbed Hiro's Nugget, the steel is believed to be the biggest find of its kind on English soil, and is expected to fetch as a minimum £30,000 at a timed public sale, which runs till 1 April.


"I couldn't believe it," he said. "I grew to become up overdue, was handiest there a matter of mins, and this treasure-hunting day trip was alleged to ultimate all day."


The detectorist made the rare locate close to the village of plenty Wenlock, which is assumed to were an antique tune with railway traces that would have contained stone from Wales - an area known to be rich in gold.
