89 old lady got her masters degree

To celebrate receiving her master's degree in creative writing from Southern New Hampshire University, Joan Donovan put on a cap and gown for a private graduation ceremony outside her Florida home.



Donovan said that she completed high school at the age of 16, but that her family lacked the funds to pay for her to attend college. She took a few graduate courses at the local high school, but after she got married and had a family, she stopped taking classes.


After her children left the house, Donovan returned to school to acquire her associate's degree. At age 84, she completed her undergraduate studies at a four-year university.
