Frog travelled 3,200 miles from Ivory Coast area

 A pensioner determined a "lovely" frog on a Lidl banana she became peeling that had travelled 3,two hundred miles from the Ivory Coast.



Jan Giovinazzo, from Epsom, told how she became bowled over and stated "What the hell is that?" on locating the tiny amphibian staring lower back at her.


The seventy one-year-antique had bought the £1.20 bunch as part of her regular weekly food save.


however when she went to eat one of the bananas from Lidl she located the frog who she admitted became "lovable".


She popped the frog in a small plastic box and put him on pinnacle of her radiator to keep him warm before calling the RSPCA.


Lidl get their bananas from the Ivory Coast which is 3,two hundred miles from the store in Epsom, Surrey.


Jan did a piece of research and believes it's a Reed frog from the west African country.


"i have gone off them now" she said.


"I religiously take a look at for spiders on every occasion I buy bananas. i used to be strolling over to the sink to peel it once I observed some thing on it.


"I appeared down and thought 'What the hell is that?' searching nearer I realised it changed into a tiny frog. it is now not quite what i used to be expecting. i've were given to say it turned into very cute.


"I seemed on-line and i discovered it was a Reed frog from The Ivory Coast. So after his long journey he turned into sleepy. My subsequent step become to hold him heat.


"I kept him by using the radiator all night time and he survived. As I said he changed into lovely but it is truely unlawful to release a non-local species into the out of doors international."


Lidl bananas contain the Rainforest Alliance emblem - that is without a doubt a little frog - on it to prove they're sustainably grown.
